Course Content

Mandatory units:

  • Introduction to hair and beauty sector
  • Presenting a Professional image in a salon


Optional units:

  • Follow Health and Safety in the salon
  • Shampoo and Conditioning
  • Plaiting and twisting

Who is the course for?

The course is aimed at students aged 16-18 (up to 24 if you have a disability) years old who wish to follow a career path within the hair and beauty sector. You will learn basic hair and beauty skills and communication skills.

Assessment Method

To gain this qualification you will need to show plenty of evidence that you have undertaken each unit.  It is a practical qualification, so each student gets through grounding in all the skill areas by a qualified tutor who will assess you using:

  • Observations
  • Oral questions
  • Assignment based work to build your portfolio

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification; however the course requires a degree of personal responsibility and the ability to work as part of a team. Students should also have achieved qualifications in English and Maths at Entry 2/3.
